Looking at a pattern from Tonga got me into exploring symmetry, and kept me fascinated for days. I started with rotational symmetry, then discovered four ways to combine it with mirror and flip symmetry. It was a challenging and mind-boggling exercise, but when I worked out it correctly, the patterns were beautiful.
