These stairs are on Mangaia, a tropical island in the South Pacific, part of the Cook Islands. The steps lead from the taro plantations in low-lying swamps up to cliffs that surround this island. For centuries, planters have used these steps and the many feet have rubbed the stones smooth. The locals call the stairs Ara Kiore, road of the rat.
Although the people of Mangaia arent in the rat race, many of us are, and this scene is food for thought, an invitation to take deep breaths while contemplating our reasons to climb up or come down, or to breathe while we walk our eyes up, step by step, in a relaxing meditation.

Judith Kunzle replied:
Yes, some photographers, like you, and drawing artists investigate with their tools. It's never been my intention to have "a style", but I want to touch things, get close to them, figure them out by drawing, all kinds of things.
