Artist's Description

This drawing is a homage to taro, the Polynesian food staple It is treasured and planted with love and care, in swamps and on dry land. It takes a lot of hard work to plant, takes at least a year to mature, and needs quite a long time to cook.
Taro is very tasty, and it is a rich source of minerals and vitamins. Its young heart-shaped leaves make a delicious spinach. However, all of the plant, leaves and tuber, are poisonous, and only edible when cooked for a while.
