In winter, it’s too cold to set up an easel outside and paint for a couple of hours, especially on a wind-swept ridge. Instead, I take a small watercolor pad (5x7 inches) and draw the action up there, including the hiker who just popped into the scene. I complete the painting in the studio, from memory.
Judith Kunzle is drawing dancers in action, paints mountains en plein air, and many other subjects she encounters. Judith lived for 30 years in the South Pacific, mostly in the Cook Islands, two years on Hawaii and six years in California. In 2021 she returned to Switzerland.
