I love this one...the simple ones are the best :)))

Artist's Description

Seabirds dont like people and dont usually nest on the coast of inhabited islands. However, on some of the reef islets of Aitutaki, Red-tailed Tropicbirds nest under shrubs, where every day visitors stroll past in their bathing suits and with wind-surfing equipment. As long as the undergrowth of the shrubs are left intact and people dont disturb them, those birds keep nesting there. The people of Aitutaki have to be complimented on their respect and protection of the natural habitat of those reef islets. Needless to say, I kept a polite distance when painting this adult Red-tailed Tropicbird. S/He was probably sitting on an egg.

About Judith Kunzle

Judith Kunzle

Judith Kunzle has a big diversity of motifs: the human body in motion, to landscapes from the South Pacific, to California and her native Switzerland. She loves to draw and paint bodies that move, like dancers, yogis and other humans, animals and plants, including mountains which also show time and change. Her study in human anatomy and the structure of living things are loving observation, giving her work warmth, substance and depth. Judith lived for 30 years in the South Pacific, on Samoa and in the Cook Islands, two years on Hawaii and six years in California. In 2021 she returned to her native Switzerland to paint mountains.
