Rimatara Lorikeets are native in the Cook Islands, South Pacific, but had been hunted to extinction 200 years ago, because of their beautiful - and precious - red feathers.
Fortunately they are not hunted anymore today and in 2007, 27 birds from Rimatara, an island in French Polynesia, were re-introduced to Atiu island, in the Cook Islands. These stunning Loris have flourished on Atiu ever since.
Judith Kunzle is drawing dancers in action, paints mountains en plein air, and many other subjects she encounters. Judith lived for 30 years in the South Pacific, mostly in the Cook Islands, two years on Hawaii and six years in California. In 2021 she returned to Switzerland.
