I built a scaffold in my studio so I could look at this beautiful artichoke eye to eye. From being a humble vegetable, handled and soon eaten, this one was clearly a flower, a star, an amazingly beautiful subject. This whole new perspective made me appreciate its distinctly formed leaves, and its full, round shape.
But yes, I eat it too - later.
